ABOUT US: An academy of dancers entrusted to unite as one through their passion for dance;ever evolving their craft; to inspire, value, and live amongst our community. We are The IV LEAGUE.Formed this passed year in September 2010, The IV League, also known as IVL, represents a collection of talented individuals who dedicate their time outside of their busy schedules to better themselves in their passion: dance. Although based in Orange County, the dancers of IVL come from all over Southern California, from the Inland Empire to Orange County to Los Angeles County. With such a diverse group of people, they are all unified under one company. Under direction of Austin Fernandez, co-founder of The IV League, their goal is to amaze and inspire others through dance and composing creative and visually-appealing sets, as well as having fun and contribute to the ever-growing dance community.
1. When and where are IVL’s audition workshops and audition? Pre-audition class: Monday, Aug. 29 w/ Jonathan Vo & Eric Torres @ CSUF Titan Gym (7pm) Audition class #1: Tuesday, Aug. 31 w/ KR Banaag @ CSUF Titan Gym (8pm) Audition class #2: Thursday, Sept. 1 w/ Austin Fernandez @ CSUF Titan Gym (8pm) IVL AUDITION: Sunday, Sept. 4 @ TBA (5pm) Callback Interviews: Monday, Sept. 5 @ TBA (8pm) 2. How much does it cost to audition? It is $3 for the pre-audition class, and $10 for the two audition classes (additional $1 for the audition CD). ***NOTE: The audition classes will not be prorated, so even if you decide to just take one audition class, it will cost $10 to audition on sunday.*** 3. Do you need to be a college student to audition? How old do you have to be to audition? You do not need to be a college student to audition. All auditionees must be 18 years or older, or an incoming college freshman. 4. How does the audition process work? You will learn two audition pieces by IVL’s directors, which will be judged on by the end of the week. Dancers will select their own groups of 3-5 and will stage, clean, and perform to the two pieces, along with a third piece in which your group is responsible to make choreography to. At the day of the audition, you will be auditioning by yourself and then with your audition group. 5. Who is judging the auditions? IVL’s 2010-2011 board will be judging the audition. 6. What do the judges expect from the auditionees? What are you looking for in a team member? Confidence, charisma, stage presence, and overall execution of the audition pieces are what we are looking for in our prospective dancers. In addition, we are searching for dedicated individuals who strive to grow and challenge themselves as dancers. 7. When will we know when we make the team or not? The Tuesday after audition day. The list will be posted on www.theivleague.org 8. How many days a week does IVL rehearse? The IV League regularly practices three days a week; Sundays from 6pm – 10pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8pm – 11pm. ***NOTE: Rehearsals may end later and hell weeks may be added depending on any upcoming performances.*** 9. What competitions/shows does IVL perform at? Maxt Out, Vibe, Fusion, Kenya Dance, Sockhop, and other competitions and performances depending on availability and selection.
